12-1 Keynote presentation: Elle Pea and Evelyn Maan: The Kids are Alright
Elle has had HIV since she was a kid, and is now a grown up with a child of her own. She’ll share some experiences and reflections on life with HIV. Evelyn coordinates research projects at Oak Tree Clinic. She’ll share some of the research outcomes about the adults who were exposed to antiretrovirals and HIV during their mother’s pregnancies.
1-2 Marnie Goldenberg- Becoming a Confident Sexplainer
Marnie helps adults “raise sexually intelligent kids”. She covers the topics the kids in our lives need- sexuality, sexual health, and sex-positive relationships. Need some tips on talking comfortably about sexuality? Marnie will have them!
2-3 Jessica St. Jean and Sarah Chown from YouthCO– Getting Down and Dirty with Decolonization and Allyship
Jessica and Sarah will share examples of what it can look like to decolonize work in the HIV and sexual health sectors. They will focus on the ways we can build spaces and narratives that support and value indigenous youth experiences, rather than stigmatize. Jessica and Sarah will share their experiences working at YouthCO, an innovative organization focusing on reducing the impact of HIV and Hepatitis C on youth in BC while engaging communities.
SpringBoard is an intimate one day conference with education sessions on things that affect the lives of women with HIV. We look at health, social, legal and community issues for positive women, their families and communities. It’s a great time for community networking too! Limited travel subsidies for out of town members- contact us for details. We look forward to seeing you soon!
