The Positive Women’s Network (PWN) is currently seeking candidates for a two year term for our Board of Directors. We are looking for individuals who are committed to social justice and gender equity. In particular, we are looking for women of Aboriginal descent. The average monthly commitment for a Board member is between 5-8 hours a month.
Positive Women’s Network, a partnership of women living with and affected by HIV/AIDS, supports women in making informed choices about HIV/AIDS and health. We provide safe access to support and education/prevention for women in communities throughout British Columbia. The Positive Women’s Network provides leadership and advocacy around women’s HIV/AIDS health and social issues in the national and local health care communities.
Board Members of PWN commit to attend monthly meetings. As well, each Board member is expected to participate in at least one Board Committee. These committees are Fund Development, Personnel, Board Development and Positive Advisory Committee. The monthly commitment for a Board member can vary, but on an average is between 5-8 hours a month.
Particular skill sets we are seeking include financial management, legal experience, community service organization experience, interests in health, women’s issues and community development.
