Have You Branched Out to Oak Tree?

    July 11th, 2008

Have you met Jodi and Krista? Jodi’s been in the community for a while, but Krista is the newest addition to the Oak Tree Clinic team, working this summer for Cara. Jodi and Krista provide outreach to women who need support connecting to health care or community services.

They drive women to medical appointments, support them when they’re in hospital, help them find safe housing, advocate when necessary, and a long list of etceteras. They spend lots of time on the road, but when they aren’t out on appointments, they are part of the staff teams at Positive Women’s Network (Krista / Cara) or the Vivian Transitional Housing Program (Jodi).

Oak Tree Clinic developed these partnerships so that medical and community services were well connected in meeting women’s’ needs, particularly women who find it difficult to access care.  For women who are newly diagnosed, new to Oak Tree or who find HIV care and its medical language intimidating, Jodi and Krista are fantastic allies.

Oak Tree Clinic specializes in HIV care for women with HIV and their families. They provide HIV care, help women plan pregnancies, deliver babies, provide nutritional advice and more. You can visit them on line or self refer by calling 604.875.2212.

If you want to reach Krista or Jodi, they both work Monday to Thursday, and outreach appointments can be arranged by calling them:
Krista: 604.313.7431 (Cara will be on the job again in the fall)
    Jodi: 604.788.0387
